Western Digital Adds Color To Portable Drives By Staff - 04/21/2008
LAKE FOREST, CALIF. —Western Digital will add 10 new color designs to its My Passport Essential USB hard drives. The drives will now be offered in orange, yellow, blue, white, viola, cherry red, real red, mint, "intense" blue and pink. Passport Essential drives include WD Sync software and feature 128-bit encryption.

U.S. Q1 PC Shipments Increase 3% By Doug Olenick - 04/21/2008
NEW YORK — First-quarter U.S. PC shipments were a measly 3 percent due to weakening economic conditions, according to two research firms. However, worldwide PC shipments again enjoyed double-digit growth for the same period. The low U.S. increase was in line with analysts' expectations, said Gartner and IDC.

HP Debuts Upline Backup Service By Staff - 04/21/2008
PALO ALTO, CALIF. — Hewlett-Packard announced a new subscription-based online backup service. The Upline service backs up data over a broadband Internet connection to HP's servers. Customers can select the intervals at which their data is automatically uploaded. Upline will be offered in three tiers, all of which feature unlimited data storage.
