Chicago – Best Buy has tapped wireless distributor Brightstar to manage its entire inventory of returned mobile devices.
The distributor, which has augmented Best Buy’s mobile supply chain since 2009, said it will consolidate the retailer’s multiple return channels to improve efficiency and reduce costs, and will manage the processing, repair, refurbishing and repackaging of the pre-owned handhelds.
The devices come in as general returns and exchanges, and through Best Buy’s Trade In, Buy Back and other service programs, Brightstar said.
Philadelphia — Almo has released its annual consumer electronics catalog in both print and digital formats.
“Our CE catalog is designed as a dual purpose tool, offering MSRP pricing, product and technical information along with one-click integration to Almo’s B2B dealer portal where inventory, dealer pricing and ordering information are available,” stated Warren Chaiken, Almo president and COO.
Philadelphia – Almo Professional A/V, in partnership with InfoComm International, has announced final registration for the last stop on the Fall 2012 E4 AV training and networking tour, taking place at the Meadowlands Expo Center in the New York area on Oct. 3.
The event will feature hundreds of new and Almo-exclusive products from more than 30 manufacturers, including Almo’s newest commercial audio partner, Atlas Sound. Atlas will exhibit and present a session during E4 NY.
Lawrenceville, Ga. — SED International Holdings reported a net loss in its fiscal fourth quarter and lower net earnings for its fiscal year, ended June 30.
SED reported a net loss in the quarter of $2 million, compared with net income year on year of $400,000.
Louisville, Ky. – Mega Group USA, the buying group for independent majap, bedding, furniture and CE dealers, has concluded “a very successful” national fall convention here, president Rick Bellows reported.
The show, held Sept. 6-9 at the Marriott Downtown and Louisville Convention Center, drew record attendance and yielded record orders, Bellows said.

Pittsburgh – The PowerHouse Alliance has added two distributors to its group, Sierra Select Distributing and Dorrance Supply Company.
Sierra Select Distributing has been in business for more than 30 years and is based in Northern California. Sierra covers both the Northern California and Northern Nevada areas. In addition to their consumer electronics/custom-installation products division, Sierra also distributes mobile audio, home appliances and several upscale lines of outdoor cooking products, PowerHouse said.
