San Diego – Sony introduced Wednesday a pair of Wi-Fi-enabled cameras including an updated mirrorless compact system camera for its NEX line and the company’s first foray into the action video camera, a growing camcorder sub-category.
The NEX-5R mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera features a 16.1-megapixel APS-C Exmor R CMOS image sensor and a new fast hybrid AF system. It also marks the company’s first NEX model to incorporate Wi-Fi capability.
Washington — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a notice this week that Canon USA has voluntarily recalled about 68,200 units of its just-released Canon EOS T4i DSLR for having a hand grip that can potentially cause a rash to some users.
The CPSC said consumers should stop using the recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed, and warned that it is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Pentax used the launch of its latest entry-level d-SLR, the K-x, last week, to update its retailers and the industry on its ongoing reorganization.
The company-wide changes, dubbed The Plan, covers a wide range of policy shifts, including improving retailer relations, getting a better handle on inventory control, and having more discipline when it comes to product development and the company’s finances, said Bill Zani, Pentax’s sales and marketing VP.
