Ridgefield Park, N.J. – Samsung this week set suggested retail pricing at $1,600 for the body only on its Galaxy NX Smart camera.
Samsung’s first connected compact system camera (CSC), Galaxy NX will also be available as a bundle with an 18-55mm lens for $1,700, the company said.

Minneapolis — Best Buy said Tuesday it is now selling Canon’s new advanced midrange EOS 70D DSLR through its BestBuy.com e-commerce store.
“We now have the Canon 70D available on BestBuy.com, and all orders include free expedited shipping through Sept. 7,” the retailer said.
The store is offering the 70D in three different package SKUs:

Ronkonkoma, N.Y. — Sigma America introduced a new service on Thursday that enables the company’s Global Vision lens owners to change lens mounts for use on different camera systems.
Sigma also announced it is extending the warranty on all of its products — including cameras, lenses and flashes purchased on or after July 1 — to four years.
Newark, N.J. — Panasonic officially unveiled Thursday the Lumix GX7 Micro Four Thirds mirrorless compact system camera.
The Panasonic GX7, which is a follow-up to the GX1 introduced a couple of years earlier, features a 16-megapixel Micro Four Thirds Live MOS sensor and, for the first time in the G-series line, built-in sensor-based image stabilization with the ability to default to G-series lenses with built-in OIS.
New York — Pentax today introduced three cameras along with a new system for purchasers to customize the body color on two of the new models.
Joining the Pentax line up are the K-50, K-500 and Q7. The K-50 is a midpriced DSLR, at $779. It is available for pre-order immediately and will be widely available in July, while the K-500 is an entry-level camera shipping in July for $599. The Q7 is a compact system camera that can be pre-ordered and will be available at retail in August for $499.
Center Valley, Pa. — Olympus celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Pen F camera with the introduction of the Pen E-P5 mirrorless digital compact system camera offering up to a 1/8,000-second shutter speed and built-in Wi-Fi support.
Olympus said it developed the Pen E-P5 to offer discerning photographers a range of advanced automatic and manual tools in a retro-look compact body.
Secaucus, N.J. — Panasonic introduced Wednesday the DMC-G6 mirrorless compact system camera offering FullHD capture, Wi-Fi connectivity and nearfield communication (NFC) linking technology.
The Lumix G6 (pricing to be announced later) features Panasonic’s Micro Four Thirds Live MOS CMOS sensor technology with 16-megapixel resolution.
Panasonic added its original pixel mix technology to the sensor to maximize the speed advantage native to the CMOS sensor. The current process is designed exclusively for the digital Live MOS sensor to minimize noise.
Melville, N.Y. — Canon said Monday that its EOS line of interchangeable-lens digital cameras (DSLR and compact-system cameras) have held the No. 1 worldwide market share position by volume for the 10 consecutive years through 2012.
Canon, which said the accomplishment was determined in “a Canon survey,” attributed the feat to developing its own key components, including lenses, optics and the CMOS image sensors, including the new cutting-edge chips that are first used in the flagship EOS-1D series.
Denver — Pentax Ricoh Imaging Americas said Tuesday its K-30 DSLR is available now for pre-order through the company’s website.
The K-30 DSLR, which carries an $800 suggested retail for the body and SMC Pentax DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR lens kit, features a fashion focus with a choice of nine color options and is rugged enough for outdoor photography enthusiasts.
Denver — Pentax Ricoh Imaging Americas said Monday it is offering a limited-time consumer mail-in rebate program on its 645D medium-format system and Limited-series lenses, when purchased in a bundle with the K-5 IIs DSLR.
The rebate offers, valid March 11-31, range from $250 to $500.
