Indianapolis – Russound came to the CEDIA Expo to refocus on its audio-everywhere roots after having sold off multi-room-audio and home-control brand Colorado vNet in April.

The sale was part of a strategic business plan to return the company to its core business of providing multi-room-audio electronics, speakers and accessories to residential and commercial systems integration channels.

Indianapolis – Meridian Audio launched a new series of active in-wall DSP speakers, all with the company’s proprietary SpeakerLink connections.

SpeakerLink delivers balanced 96kHz/24-bit digital audio and control signals over 300 feet of CAT-5e RJ-45-terminated cable from the company’s DSP speakers to the company’s DSP-equipped source components, including the company’s Digital Media System music server.

Indianapolis – Onkyo is coming to the Expo with its first 2.1-speaker TV-sound enhancement system, the company’s first iPod/iPhone-docking music system with built-in stereo Bluetooth, and two new mini systems, one of which is the company’s first with embedded stereo Bluetooth.

One of the mini systems is the company’s first networked mini system.

All ship in the fourth quarter along with a new stereo integrate amplifier. Prices haven’t been revealed.

Indianapolis – Dana Innovations is expanding its selection of 70-volt Sonance Landscape series (SLS) that do double duty as in-door commercial speakers, as well as adding a new 8-ohm outdoor audio system reaching a more accessible price point.

Both systems are targeted to ship by the end of the year.

The company is also upgrading its iPort-brand LaunchPort inductive-charging and magnetic-mounting systems for iPads with the launch of a new AP.3 Sleeve that contours to fit The new iPad as well as the iPad 2.

Oakdale, Minn. – TDK Life on Record plans October shipments of its first four Bluetooth speakers to complement its premium lineup of iPod/iPhone-docking boomboxes and tabletop audio systems.

 The four models, shipping in October at a suggested $249 to $399, include portable AC/DC models, and all are capable of streaming the Bluetooth SBC codec and the higher quality AAC codec over a wireless Bluetooth pipe. Apple’s Mac OS computers and mobile iOS devices support AAC over Bluetooth.

Tempe, Ariz. — Lightning Audio said it will begin shipping in the fourth quarter the recently introduced LA-TWO subwoofer series.

Four models are offered: 10-inch and 12-inch, with each size in 2- and 4-ohm configurations. Features include stitched tinsel leads to reduce mass, stress and strain over a greater area; a 2-inch voice coil venting to help eliminate thermal issues and increase power handling; high-density poly-foam surround; and anodized-aluminum voice coil former with spun-laced Nomex collar.
