Edifier’s $99 e10 Exclaim active bi-amplified speaker system is designed for use with a PC, TV, or mobile device.


Fort Worth, Texas – Edifier has added to its tabletop speaker lineup with the e10 Exclaim active bi-amplified 2.0 speaker system for use with a PC, TV, or mobile device.

 The $99 speaker pair comes with 3.5mm auxiliary cable to connect to audio sources.

 The system features DSP (digital signal processing) and DRC (dynamic range compensation) to provide tonal balance t any volume setting and minimize distortion, the company said.

Pickering, Ontario – PSB Speakers will add two slim on-wall speakers for use with flat-panel TVs to it selection of in-wall, in-ceiling and in-room speakers.

One of the two on-wall speakers is also the company’s first passive soundbar-style speaker to incorporate three front channels in one enclosure. Both 3-inch-deep models will ship in November as part of the company’s Imagine series of curvy freestanding speakers.

Binghamton, N.Y. - McIntosh Laboratory has begun shipping its first AirPlay-equipped tabletop speaker, the $3,000 McAire.

At that price, the single-chassis stereo speaker system joins a growing selection of very-high-end single-chassis AirPlay speakers, including Bang & Olufsen’s recently unveiled $2,699 BeoPlay A9, a disc-shaped floor-standing model that can also be hung on a wall.

New York –Infinity Lifestyle Brands, which specializes in acquiring and turning around struggling or bankrupt consumer brands, purchased worldwide rights to the Altec Lansing brand for $17.5 million at auction.

The company purchased the Polaroid and Linens ‘n Things brands in 2010, purchased the Sharper Image brand in 2009, and later sold it off, and is part of a joint venture that owns licensing rights to the Miss America brand.

Manchester, U.K. – U.K. audio supplier AQ Audio has turned up in the U.S. with portable wireless speakers that stream music via Wi-Fi from PCs and from Android and Apple devices.

Unlike most other AirPlay- and network-enabled speakers, the AQ Audio SmartSpeaker also streams music directly from mobile devices via Wi-Fi when outside a home’s Wi-Fi network.

Chula Vista, Calif. — Hitachi America is “inspiring the next” this week by introducing two 133-watt Bluetooth Sound Bars, designed to coordinate both cosmetically and audibly with today’s advanced flat-panel TVs.

The soundbars were developed to fit the look of TVs flat panel sets with 32-inch and larger screen sizes. Both will connect to the screen either by wires or wirelessly via Bluetooth, and employ Hitachi’s CONEQ 3D sound technology.

Berkeley, Calif. – Sonus faber is adopting a “more youthful and aggressive appearance” in its latest series of home speakers, which also bring the brand to new price points.

Six models in the Venere series, priced up to $3,498/pair for a three-way floorstanding speaker, feature double curved sides, tapered shape, and a sculpted top embellished with tempered glass. The shape delivers structural strength and controls resonances to deliver undistorted sound, but the shape also reduces visual mass and promotes versatility of room positioning, the company said.
