SuperTooth Reveals Speakers, Multilingual Car Kit For CES

Las Vegas – SuperTooth will be at International CES next week to feature two items, the new Disco Twin Bluetooth stereo speakers and the HD-Voice in-car speakerphone that speaks 12 languages.

The Disco Twin pairs two portable, 16-watt rechargeable speakers featuring true stereo sound with a high efficiency bass reflex system in back. Stereo music can be streamed wirelessly from any Bluetooth-enabled device by pairing to both speakers, which channels audio to each.

JBL’s $149-suggested OnBeat Mini is said to be the first Lightning-equipped portable AC/DC speaker built to charge an iPad mini and the fourth-generation iPad.


Las Vegas – JBL will update its selection of tabletop digital-media speakers at International CES by expanding its lineup of models equipped with Apple’s Lightning 8-pin connector.

 The two new Lightning-equipped speakers will enable docking of the iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod touch, 7th-generation iPod nano, iPad mini, and fourth-generation iPad without a 30-pin-to-8-pin Apple adapter.

  The Harman brand is also launching a new AC/DC Bluetooth speaker.

Boston - The Association of Loudspeaker Manufacturing & Acoustics (ALMA) will feature the world-premier screening of "The Life & Times of Paul Klipsch" during its Winter Symposium in Las Vegas just before International CES.

The screening will be held Sunday, January 6, at 6 p.m. at the Tuscany Suites & Casino.

Sausalito, Calif. — Tympany, an original design manufacturer (ODM) for major audio brands, will team with Qualcomm Atheros to co-develop turnkey Wi-Fi-enabled speakers and other streaming-audio products.

The companies said suppliers could bring to market at price points from $200 on up to the high end with faster time to market.

Under the agreement, Tympany will work with Qualcomm Atheros to integrate Qualcomm’s Skifta wireless audio module into home audio devices.

Framingham, Mass. — Bose launched its first iPod/iPhone-docking speaker with Apple’s new eight-pin Lightning connector.

The new speaker allows the docking of the iPhone 5, fifth-gen iPod, and seventh-gen iPod Nano without the use of Apple’s $29 Lightning-to-30-pin adapter.

The AC-only speaker, called the SoundDock Series III, became available this weekend at Bose.com in gloss black at $249. It will also be sold at authorized Bose dealers, Bose retail stores and Bose’s toll-free number.

Atlanta – Philips unveiled some of the industry’s first tabletop docking speakers with Apple’s new eight-pin Lightning connector.

A quartet of docking speakers shipping this month from the company will dock with the iPhone 5, fifth-generation iPod Touch, and seventh-generation iPod Nano to play back their music and charge them. The speakers are not designed for use with the Pad Mini or fourth-generation iPad.

Thiel president/CEO Kathy Gornik is leaving Thiel, which she co-founded in 1976, according to a company spokesperson.
