Mahwah, N.J. – Boston Acoustics launched its first Bluetooth speaker, the $149-suggested MC100Blue.
The AC-only single-chassis tabletop speaker, available on the company’s web site, streams AptX over Bluetooth. It features nearfield communications (NFC) for tap-to-pair functionality, dual 3.5-inch drivers with bass port, and BassTrac technology to maintain bass output at low listening levels,
The gloss-black speaker also features analog aux input and headphone output.

The Boston Acoustics model will ship next week to join a growing number of TV-speaker bases in the market. Klipsch, Energy and LG, for example, have introduced their first TV-speaker bases, and SpeakerCraft and AudioXperts have expanded their selections.
Framingham, Mass. – Wireless-speaker maker Libratone expanded its wireless-speaker line with a new disc-shaped model that can be placed on a shelf, floor or wall.
The $499-suggested 13.1-inch-diameter Loop is a 2.1-channel speaker that comes with embedded Wi-Fi, Apple AirPlay, and DLNA to stream music from an Apple, Android or Windows Phone 8 mobile device over a home’s Wi-Fi network and from networked PCs and Macs. Up to six speakers at a time can stream music from a Mac or PC.
Indianapolis – Klipsch Group plans to double its sales in the three years starting next March following its reorganization into four cross-brand groups, the addition of new employees and rep firms, and stepped-up promotional and merchandising activities.
The merchandising activities include a drive to place active displays and dedicated audio rooms in anywhere from 500 to 1,000 storefronts by the end of the year.
Denver — Crestron launched its first landscape speaker series and its first in-wall surround processor with built-in amplification during the CEDIA Expo.
The company also signed up D&M as the first CE partner for its Crestron Connected program, which will streamline the integration of select Denon and Marantz AVRs and preamp processors with Crestron control systems and offer new convenience features for consumers.
Denver — New audio products introduced by MSE Audio include the thinnest three-channel passive soundbar under the Phase Technology brand, the first Rockustics-brand underground subwoofers that vent above ground into mock-rock enclosures, and the first wireless rock speakers from Rockustics.
Denver — KEF officially added its name to the short list of audio companies offering THX-certified architectural speakers.
The lineup consists of two THX Ultra2 in-wall LCRs due in January, an Ultra2 round in-ceiling speaker due in December, and an in-wall subwoofer due in January. Two subs used together will qualify for Select2 status, and four will deliver Ultra2 performance, said Ci product development manager David Kroll.
Denver – Luxury audio/video supplier Bang & Olufsen is expanding its dealer base to include systems integrators, the company announced here at the CEDIA Expo.
The company will offer select integrators the opportunity to become authorized resellers through partnerships with B&O-owned stores and with independently owned B&O stores.
Integrators will be asked to sign a partnership agreement, display a range of products, and ensure that employees attend regular training seminars online and in person, the company said
Denver — Artison is unveiling four in-wall active subwoofers here at the CEDIA Expo, all with dual drivers in a reactance-canceling configuration to prevent cabinet and wall vibrations.
Cabinet and wall vibrations reduce audio output and clarity and disturb people in adjoining rooms, the company said. The subs fit flush in standard 2x4 walls.
Denver — THX unveiled a THX Retailer Program that it said will help educate and promote specialty retailers that sell THX-certified A/V equipment.
To participate in the program, retailers must meet such requirements as running a brick-and-mortar location, displaying THX-certified products, offering an up-to-date website, and passing an exam on the benefits of THX technology.
