Video & Audio Center, Sony To Hold Ultra TV, Tablet Event

Santa Monica, Calif. – Video & Audio Center is continuing to push Ultra HDTV (a.k.a. 4K) events, this time with Sony Electronics.

Sony will demonstrate its TVs and its Xperia Tablet Z, at an event, here, Thursday, May 23, that will also highlight the retailer’s own local job fair and an announcement on new store openings.

Currently Video & Audio Center has three locations.

The event will be held at the store on 1426 Wilshire Blvd. on Thursday, May 23 from 5 to 8 p.m. The TVs and tablet will go on sale at 5:30 pm.

Ridgefield Park, N.J. – Polaroid has been named the official action sports camera sponsor of the 2013 King of Wake wakeboarding series.

King of Wake draws the sport’s most prestigious contestants from around the world into a season-long points chase to determine the ultimate champion.

The King of Wake series will make eight stops throughout the United States, commencing in Orlando in April and ending in August in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Chatsworth, Calif. —Anthony Gallo Acoustics (AGA) has begun shipping its latest additions to the Ti Series of Micro’s and A’Diva’s satellite speakers.

The Micro SE and A’Diva SE (Special Edition), which are enclosed in 4- and 5-inch diameter all-metal spheres respectively, perform like much larger audiophile speakers, the company said. One of the benefits of the new speakers’ technology is the ability to present a vivid, 3-D soundstage regardless of listening position.

The Integra DTR-30.5 is the company's first receiver with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interfaces for modern media connectivity.

Clearwater, Fla. — iSimple, a division of Aamp of America, took the wraps off a pair of vehicle accessories today and will have the devices on display during CTIA 2013, held in Las Vegas next week.

The BluStream car kit (model ISBT52) is designed to be used with any car featuring a 3.5mm jack. The plug-in device enables in-car Bluetooth and connects to most car radios, the company said. Suggested retail is $59.95.

Features include an echo-canceling microphone, a Call/Play button, A2DP streaming, USB power port for charging. It’s currently available.

Santa Monica, Calif. – Samsung’s 85-inch (model N85S9000) Ultra High-Definition TV came to Video & Audio Center, here, Wednesday night and drew a crowd of more than 130 customers.

According to corporate director Tom Campbell, the special Samsung event drew many customers from the movie business and, most importantly, four sets were sold at the suggested retail of $40,000 each.

Jackson, Mich. – The imaging-industry trade association PMA issued a statement Thursday expressing support for federal legislation mandating online companies to collect state sales taxes.

Earlier this month, the United States Senate passed the Marketplace Fairness Act, which requires online retailers with annual revenue of more than a million dollars to collect sales tax on transactions across state lines.

Denver — Archos today added the 3G-enabled Archos 80 Xenon to its Elements tablet line.

The $199 80 Xenon is an 8-inch tablet running Android 4.1 and has a Qualcomm quad-core 1.2GHz processor, built-in GPS and an SD slot capable of taking a 64GB card.

The device begins shipping in June.
