Valhalla, N.Y. — Turtle Beach took the wraps off what’s it’s calling the first officially licensed headsets for the upcoming Nintendo Wii U gaming console.  

The Ear Force NLa was engineered explicitly for use with the Wii U GamePad controller, Turtle Beach said, and a spokesman said this refers to the Wii U’s chat functionality, which works through the GamePad. The headset has a 3.5mm, four-pole mic that can plug directly into the GamePad, and it can also be used with the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS.

Scottsdale, Ariz. - Ingram Micro’s Consumer Electronics Division (IMCE) has announced a distribution agreement with Roccat, the high- performance gaming hardware.

The joint partnership between IMCE and Roccat expands IMCE’s gaming accessory line while also expanding the American presence of a world recognized brand of hardcore gamers in Roccat, the distributor said.

Valhalla, N.Y. – Turtle Beach announced founders Carmine Gonanno, CEO, and Fred Romano, executive VP and COO, are retiring.

Both will remain on the board of directors, and Gonanno will be replaced as CEO by Juergen Stark. When asked if anyone would be replacing Romano, a company spokesman said nothing was being announced today.  

The gaming accessory manufacturer said Stark’s appointment was done by its board of directors.

Roccat Bows Lua Tri-Button Mouse

LOS ANGELES — Roccat Studios unveiled its Lua Tri-Button gaming mouse at E3 earlier this month. The mouse is designed to be used with either hand and features a choice of seven dpi settings: 250, 500, 1,000, 1,250, 1,500, 1,750 and 2,000.

It also has a dedicated dpi button that lets users change speeds while gaming, and they can program the button to switch only between the dpi settings they use most.
