The headphones world is a never-ending source of news, be it unremitting product introductions or company efforts to stand out in the shoulder-to-shoulder crowded market. Jabra unveiled its Rox wireless ear buds, which feature both Bluetooth and nearfield communications (NFC) technology. Details include stainless-steel construction, Dolby stereo sound and IP52 rating against dust and water. Built-in magnets allow users to tap clip the ear buds together to activate a power-saving mode.
Play time is listed at 5.5 hours. They will be available next month for a $129 suggested retail.
Polk Audio started shipping its first gaming products, the Melee headset ($199 suggested retail) and the N1 soundbar. These were previewed during E3 over the summer.
Both are part of Polk’s partnership with Microsoft, which the company announced will extend through the end of next year.
Om Audio, a maker of in-ear monitors, announced it has signed its first endorsement deal, with DJ Jazzy Jeff.
The musician will promote the company’s Inearpeace in-ear monitors, launched last month, through print and digital ads, social media and special events.
Said Devon Bergman, marketing VP for Om Audio: “For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a fan of DJ Jazzy Jeff, so having the honor of him supporting the Om Audio team is an absolute honor. Om Audio was founded with the mission to bring people great audio, and having a vote of confidence from someone as prolific as DJ Jazzy Jeff speaks volumes to what we’ve already been able to achieve.”
Thinksound last week announced the company’s first on-ear headphones, the On1 supra-aural monitor. Details include 40mm drivers, memory-foam ear pads, wood housings and two sets of detachable Kevlar cables (with and without mic). Suggested retail is $299.
