CES Looming With New Dates, Events

December 1, 2011

Black Friday has come and gone, but the rest of the holiday sales season remains the focus of the CE industry.

But, as always, International CES is looming in the near future. Exhibitors and buyers are also planning their strategies and itineraries now for the big show to be held in Las Vegas during January.

As always, each International CES is different, but this year there are a few differences that even the casual observer will notice.

The first, and maybe the most important, difference is that the show is being held Jan. 10-13, a good four days later than the opening of the previous show’s Jan. 6-9, 2011, date.

That may ease the business and personal scheduling pressure on CE execs of all stripes as the non-CE world celebrates Christmas and New Year’s.

And the dates fall on a Tuesday through Friday schedule instead of the usual Thursday through Sunday time frame, which happens once every several years due to the calendar.

The new events at the show, owned and produced by the Consumer Electronics Association, include Eureka Park, PMA @ CES and many other panels, keynote speakers, and special exhibits and presentations.
