It’s Official: Harman Buys Newsweek

August 3, 2010

Looks like yesterday’s blog was accurate: Legendary CE leader and founder of Harman International Sidney Harman has bought Newsweek for $1 and will assume the newsweekly’s liabilities.

Here’s the official statement on Newsweek’s site: http://www.newsweek.com/2010/08/02/the-washington-post-company-agrees-to-sell-newsweek-to-sidney-harman.html

Harman, 91, retired from Harman International in 2008, a company that he founded in 1953. Among his many honors is that Harman was part of the inaugural class of the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame in 2000.

OK, but what happens to Newsweek when Harman moves on to the great hi-fi listening room in the sky?
