DisplaySearch: Flat-Panel Delays Possible

March 22, 2011

Austin, Texas - As the dust settles following the March 11 earthquake in northeastern Japan, DisplaySearch analysts are beginning to hear of possible long-term shortages of key supplies used in the production of flat-panel displays both in and outside of Japan.

In a blog posted on the DisplaySearch site Tuesday, the market analysts said they are beginning to hear of five components or compounds used in the production of flat-panel that are produced, in part, by companies that were impacted by the tragic earthquake and tsunami.

While some of these substances can be sourced from facilities outside of the impact area, a few of are so scarce that the Japanese supplies are counted on to keep up production volume and possible production delays may ensue.

For a detailed look at these items and the potential impact, see the DisplaySearch blog here.
