Health Care As Child's Play

May 3, 2010

Didget, a product from Bayer HealthCare, is taking a page from the Boy Scouts of America by using video games to get kids’ attentions. Unlike the Boy Scouts, however, the Didget will actually serve a greater purpose: It encourages diabetic kids to test their blood sugar (a must for kids with diabetes).

Kids earn points on the Didget each time they test their blood sugar. The device is then connected to a Nintendo DS, where they can redeem the points on a specific game. Pretty cool.
