Darrell Issa Update

October 21, 2009

Former Directed Electronics CEO and Consumer Electronics Association chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) has been in the news of late and he has not forgotten his CE roots. As part of an imbroglio on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, a GOP staffer used a CE product to cause a ruckus recently in the House.

From The Hill:

A GOP committee staffer captured video of Democrats leaving their separate meeting in private chambers after the mark-up was supposed to have begun. He spliced the video to other footage of the Democrats’ empty chairs at the hearing room, set it to the tune of “Hit the Road, Jack” and posted it on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s minority Web page, where it remained as of press time.

Most missed the irony of ACORN CEO Betha Lewis & Darrell Issa on Chris Wallace’s Sunday FOX News show a couple of weeks back. Embattled Lewis blurted out that ACORN was being defended by “Harman Kardon” lawyers. That means ~90-year old Sidney, former Undersecretary of Commerce for Jimmy Carter & the husband of former Senate Intelligence Committee Chair Jane Harman is footing the bill for ACORN’s defense. Hmmm, billionaire CE guy against a mere multi-millionaire CE guy.
