Fiorina: Spinning Is Hard

September 18, 2008

As we noted earlier in this space, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina is now serving as a surrogate for the McCain campaign.

Fiorina is apparently having some difficulty adjusting to life in the political arena.  Earlier in the campaign, she misstated McCain’s view on reproductive issues. Now, this:

“Asked by a St. Louis radio station whether she thought Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin could run a company like Hewlett-Packard, Fiorina responded: ‘No, I don’t’.

“But that’s not what she’s running for. Running a corporation is a different set of things."

Indeed. Remind me, which one gets to launch the nukes?

No doubt recalling her business school training, Fiorina decides that once you’re in the hole, it’s best to keep digging:

“Asked about that remark on MSNBC, she made the same unprompted assessment of the GOP presidential nominee. ‘I don’t think John McCain could run a major corporation.’”

Take that!

Lest you think Fiorina was just engaging in friendly fire, she did add that neither Barack Obama nor Joe Biden could hack it at the helm of HP either. Maybe Mark Hurd should run for president.

Lest we forget, dear Carly couldn't run a corporation either.
