Canon Sees Camera Market Contraction

November 25, 2008

No huge surprise, but Canon’s president Tsuneji Uchida told Reuters that digital camera unit sales may contract in 2009. Uchida noted that d-SLR sales are showing some signs of “stagnation.”

He also said Canon is looking to cut $1 billion thanks to a new computer system set to go online in 2010 that will “control information across the company, including data on its development, production and sales activities.”

Sounds rather Skynet-ish to me.
