Fujifilm In S.C.

September 22, 2008

The imaging company celebrated its 20th anniversary in Greenwood, S.C., last week. Greenwood is home to the company’s North American manufacturing and R&D headquarters.

Sen. Lindsay Graham at FujiSenator Lindsey Graham was on hand at an event to celebrate the milestone, saying the imaging firm “has done wonderful things for South Carolina over the last 20 years.”

Shigetaka Komori, Fujifilm president/CEO, observed that since the company dropped anchor in S.C., its business has changed dramatically: Before 2000, 40 percent of Fujifilm revenue and 60 percent of its profits were generated from photo imaging products, such as color film. Today, the company is tacking toward the life sciences, imaging and other categories to remain competitive.
