Flash Prices to Stabilize in Second Half

We reported on an iSuppli report released earlier this week indicating that there will be some let-up in the over supply of flash memory (which has seen prices plummet and manufacturers like Sandisk take drastic action).

Today, the Taipei-based DigiTimes is reporting that Samsung Semiconductor execs are predicting a “severe shortage” in the second half of this year. [Hat tip: Gizmodo]

There’s some speculation here about what it all means. The upshot is that it appears to confirm iSuppli’s prediction of price-stabilization in the flash memory market, which may ultimately mean the days of the $5 512MB SD card are coming to an end.
