EU Taxes HD Camcorders

From the “this is evidently not a joke” files … The European Union has decreed (they speak in no other language) that any manufacturer that sells a product capable of recording 800 by 600/23 fps video for a duration of 30 minutes, will be taxed at a higher rate than lower-quality products. (Hat tip: CamcorderInfo.com). 

Great news! 

Obviously, if European bureaucrats are spending time determining the precise pixel and frame rate at which the tax code hinges, they’ve solved all those other nagging problems like global warming, nuclear proliferation, and Islamic terrorism.
