Zink Printer/Camera Coming Soon

August 14, 2007

A digital camera with a built-in printer will be launched by Zink and a yet-to-be-named manufacturer, according to the company. (Via DigitalCameraInfo.)
Zink (which stands for “zero ink”) debuted its inkless printing technology in February (video demo here). Since then, it purchased Konica Minolta manufacturing assets and has been laying the groundwork for a product rollout

The camera specs posted on the Zink Web-site indicate the camera will pack a 7-megapixel sensor and 3x optical zoom lens with a 2-inch LCD, and a 2-inch by 3-inch integrated color printer.
So, are consumers ready to go back to Polaroids? As part of the anticipated product launch, Zink commissioned a study by Godfrey Research (results here) on the market for “mobile printing.”
