Green iPhone Power Is Just A Flick Away

September 23, 2008

An industrial designer in Sweden named Peter Thuvander has created a yo-yo that can charge an iPod or iPhone.

A magnetic induction-based rotating inner core generates electricity as the yo-yo spins, storing it on an onboard lithium-ion cell. The more you yo-yo, the more power generated. The iPhone’s charging cable attaches to a USB port on the side.

Asked if he enjoyed his first foray into CE design, Thuvander responded: “It had its ups and downs.”

Hat tip to Treehugger.
