FotoNation Gets the Red Out
September 17, 2007

Red-eye reduction and facial detection technology have gone from a niche to mainstream digital camera technology quite rapidly. FotoNation provides both technologies to camera manufacturers and the firm announced last week that its solutions are now in about half of all cameras sold in the U.S.

Its FaceTracker technology is in 21 out of 48 new compact models out in the first half of the year, the company said. This technology can grab up to ten faces and adjust exposure accordingly.

The technology will also be incorporated in Sony’s retail photo finishing supplies, including its PictureStation 4700.
