Minneapolis — Jude Buckley has resigned as Best Buy’s chief commercial officer, responsible for the retailer’s crucial mobile and computing businesses.

It is the company’s second major departure in less than a month following the retirement of U.S. retail president Shawn Score in April.

According to an SEC filing, Buckley notified Best Buy on May 2 that he would resign immediately to pursue other interests. His duties have been assigned to various corporate officers while the company conducts a search for his successor.

Buckley joined Best Buy in 2007 from former European mobile partner Carphone Warehouse, and helped build the Best Buy Mobile chain of specialty stores. In January 2013 he was promoted to head the company’s connectivity business group (CBG), which includes tablets, e-readers, mobile phones, computers and health and fitness devices.

His responsibilities included overseeing the retailer’s connectivity strategy and Best Buy Mobile, and managing vendor and carrier relationships, merchandising, accessories, services, store operations, multi-channel, IT and supply chain.

Jude succeeded Shawn Score, who went on to run Best Buy’s U.S. retail operations until his retirement 14 months later. Those duties have been assumed by chief human services officer Shari Ballard, who previously served as co-Americas president with Mike Vitelli.
