Networking, 3D Blu-ray Get Sherwood Focus

LAS VEGAS —

Sherwood is expanding its selection of
networked A/V receivers down to an expected suggested
$349.95, launching its first 3D Blu-ray player, and introducing
its first Control 4-certified A/V receiver.

The company is also bringing HDMI 1.4a inputs and
outputs with Audio Return Channel (ARC) down to a suggested
$249.99 in an A/V receiver from $399.99.

In networked A/V receivers, the company plans April
shipments of the Sherwood-series RD-606i at an expected
suggested $349.95. The 5.1-channel AVR connects to
the on-line Reciva and Shoutcast Internet radio portals to
stream thousands of Internet radio stations. Via its Ethernet
port, it also streams music and video from a networked
PC. Network capabilities include UPnP, DLNA 1.5 certification,
and support for the Windows 7 Plays To feature.
Other 606i features include 3/1 HDMI 1.4a switching with
ARC.

Another AVR with the same features except for networking
is the $249.95-suggested RD-6065, also due April.

The company’s first 3D Blu-ray player is the first Blu-ray
player in the company’s higher end Newcastle series. The
$399.95-suggested BD-876 is a Profile 2.0 model with
USB Host and DLNA certification to stream audio and
video from a networked PC.

For its first Control 4-certified AVR, Sherwood is launching
the Newcastle R-876 at a suggested $1,199.95, shipping
in July. The AVR, which can be integrated into a Control
4 home-control system, features included 802.11n
USB Wi-Fi adapter, DLNA 1.5 certification, support for
the Windows 7 Plays To feature, access to Internet radio
via Reciva and Shoutcast, and streaming of the Pandora,
Rhapsody, and Aupeo music services. Other R-876 features
include six HDMI 1.4a inputs, two simultaneous 1.4a
outputs with ARC, phono input, dual USBs, and threezone
output of all A/V sources.
