LAS VEGAS – Klipsch came to International CES to tout a new series of speakers that includes three powered models equipped with Wi-Fi and Apple’s AirPlay technology.

The Gallery series also four passive speakers that are cosmetically similar to the AirPlay speakers and are the company’s first slim speakers intended for use with flat-panel TVs.

All Gallery models feature proprietary Tractrix Horn technology to deliver extended high-frequency response and constant directivity for what Klipsch called “a live soundstage experience.” All are also promoted as delivering deep bass and wide dynamic range unlike similarly sized competitors.

In addition, all models feature a high-gloss black finish designed for modern décors, and all feature a small footprint.

The three powered AirPlay speakers, dubbed new-media speakers, are rated at 40 watts, 60 watts and 100 watts and priced at a suggested $399, $599 and $799. They’re due in the late third quarter or early fourth quarter. The top model comes with separate but included iPod/iPhone/iPad charging stand that can be placed on an end table or nightstand close to the end user. The charging stand is a separate option for the other two models.

The four passive models are the G-12 at a suggested $199 each, G-16 at $299 each, G-28 at $499 each and $699 G-42. Three can be used as a left, center, right or surround speaker and placed horizontally or vertically. The G-42 model is a horizontalonly three-channel model. The passive models are due in the summer.
