Ultra HD Conference Agenda Set

New York — The agenda for the upcoming Ultra HD Conference, to be held here during CES Unveiled on Nov. 12, has been released.

The half-day session, coordinated by the editors of TWICE and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), will set the stage for CEA’s annual CES Unveiled program later that afternoon, and will bring together key stakeholders in the Ultra HD ecosystem.

While some details still need to be filled in, here is the basic outline for the day’s events:

Ultra HD Conference at CES Unveiled NEW YORK,

9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., November 12 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W. 18th St, in New York City. (Registration and check-in starts a 9 a.m.)

9:30 a.m.- Opening Keynote

10 a.m. — CEA Market Analysis Update

Panel One: Ultra HD: An evolution or a revolution?

10:15 a.m.-11:00 a.m.: This panel will bring together consumer electronics manufacturers; market analysts, and representatives from content community to discuss the rollout of Ultra HD products and services to date, the prospects for the future and the obstacles that still need to be overcome on the way to achieving mass market acceptance. Questions to be addressed are: how are the various industries working together to drive Ultra HD awareness? How is the rollout of Ultra HDTVs progressing to date and where are shipment totals headed in 2014 and beyond? What’s working successfully and what needs to be avoided? Is all of the recent pricing volatility helping to drive demand? Are prices coming down too soon, and soon quickly? How has arrival or pending arrival of standards like HDMI 2.0 and HEVC H.265 helped or hindered rollout efforts to date?

Panel Two: Native Ultra HD Content: Where’s The Beef?

11:15a.m.-Noon: Ultra HDTVs are here but native Ultra HD content remains scarce. This panel will bring together representatives from the Hollywood movie community, TV broadcasters, multichannel service providers, and streaming service providers to discuss what’s available today in native Ultra HD content, what’s in the works and what are some of the obstacles and concerns with getting native Ultra HD content to consumer homes?

Lunch Break with Keynotes:

Noon-1:30p.m. 

Panel Three:Taking Ultra HD To Retail:

1:30p.m.-2:15p.m.: If Ultra HDTV is going to succeed, it will be due in large part to those reaching consumers directly in retail stores and showrooms. This panel will bring together several leading retailers including Tom Campbell of Video & Audio Center in Los Angeles, and Robert Zohn proprietor of Value Electronics in Scarsdale, N.Y., Tamaryn Pratt, principal of market analyst Quixel Research and a leading TV manufacturer to address what needs to be done to make consumers better aware of Ultra HDTV, what’s happened so far, and what more is needed on the frontlines? This will look at how consumers feel about Ultra HD today, what matters most to them, and how quickly they are likely to embrace the technology on a broad scale.

2:15p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Closing Remarks, product Demos
