Anaheim, Calif. — Zyxel announced its WRE2205 802.11n wireless range extender for $59.99.

This device plugs into any electrical outlet to extend a network's wireless signal range throughout the home and the backyard. It provides transfer rates of up to 300Mbps and is backward compatible with 802.11b/g as well. It is now shipping.

The product’s setup wizard and Wi-Fi Protected Setup button lets users activate the range extenders with instant protection, and the LED signal strength indicators on the panel help users identify the best location for optimal Wi-Fi coverage. It is also eco-friendly as the unit comes with a power switch that shuts the device down when not in use to save electricity and reduce energy consumption, the company said.
