X2 Computing Unveils Android Carbon X220 Tablet

Worcestershire, England — X2 Computing has introduced an Android/ARM processor version of its 10.1-inch Carbon X220 tablet.

The latest X220 is powered by an ARM Cortex A9 quad-core 1.8GHz processor. It will ship running Android 4.3 and is upgradeable to 4.4.

The Android model follows the earlier launch of an Intel/Windows device. The company said the Android X220 will offer better battery life compared with the Intel-powered version.

Other features include 2GB of DDR3 SDRAM and up to 128GB of solid-state storage. The display resolution is 1,200 by 800, and display options include capacitive multi-touch or resistive single touch.

The X220s are geared toward the general consumer, gaming and enterprise customer, the company said. For the last group there are options for 3G and nearfield communications (NFC) connectivity and the ability to track RFID tags.

The units are now available direct from X2, pricing depends upon configuration.
