Bedminister, N.J. – Verizon Wireless launched a 4G LTE version of Samsung’s Android-based Galaxy Camera, which is available from AT&T with 4G HSPA+ cellular-data technology.

The camera, said to be the world’s first LTE-equipped camera, enables users to shoot, edit and share pictures and videos wirelessly through Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or e-mail without connecting to a laptop or PC.

The LTE version will be available through Verizon’s web store on Dec. 13 at $549. Purchasers add the camera to their Share Everything account at the promotional price of $5 per month.

AT&T’s HSPA+ version became available last month through AT&T-owned stores and the carrier’s web site at $499 with or without data plan, though purchasers get $100 off if they also buy any Samsung Galaxy smartphone during the holiday season.

The camera features a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear LCD touch screen and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to download apps, such as Instagram, from the Google Play store. Other features include 16-megapixel lens, 21x optical zoom lens and optical image stabilization.

The device also features quad-core 1.4GHz processor and manual controls, including the manual setting of shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Smart Mode is designed for amateur photographers and features Rich Tone HDR mode, Light Trace for ‘light painting’ photos, and Best Face and Best Photo. The latter two help users pick the best shot in a series of shots.

The camera is also optimized to share images and videos with multiple Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S III smartphone, Samsung Galaxy Note II phablet, and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet.

The Verizon-network version will be available in cobalt black and white.
