Basking Ridge, N.J. – Verizon Wireless will offer its first LTE-equipped ruggedized phone on June 27 when it launches Casio’s G’zOne Commando Android smartphone at $99.

The carrier currently offers the 3G version of the Commando smartphone at $49.

“This is our first G’zOne with 4G LTE,” a spokesman told TWICE. And “it’s our first ruggedized 4G LTE smartphone.”

The G’zOne features glove mode, enabling users to manipulate the touchscreen while wearing gloves.

To track outdoor adventures, the phone’s G’zWorld app records activities on a map and tracks routes while the user is running or hiking. The phone also lets users send pictures while outdoors to Facebook and Twitter.

The G’zGear multi-sensor features barometric pressure readings, compass, sun/moon displays, temperature comparisons, tide views, constellation gazer, and virtual trail functions. Other features include 8-megapixel rear facing camera with 1080p HD recording and slow motion capture. A 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera is available for video chatting.
