Irvine, Calif. – Toshiba is re-entering the home-audio business after many years with the launch of the first in a planned lineup of active soundbars.

The $329-suggested SBX4250 Sound Bar Speaker System is available at ToshibaDirect.com and at select online and in-store retailers.

The 2.1-channel SBX4250 features separate 6.5-inch wireless subwoofer, built-in wireless stereo Bluetooth, two HDMI inputs, one HDMI output with audio return channel, two optical inputs, Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder, SRS TruSurround HD with TruBass to deliver a virtual surround experience, and 300-watt total peak output.

The bar itself packs four midrange speakers and two tweeters in a chassis that is only 3.6 inches tall and 2.2 inches deep. It’s 37.6 inches wide to match 40-inch and larger flat-panel TVs. The chassis features matte-black finish with semi-transparent metal grille.

The bar sits on a mantel or table or mounts onto a wall, and it comes with a remote.
