Miami – Apple continued to expand iPhone availability with the launch of the iPhone 4s, 5s and 5c through Trac Fone’s Straight Talk Wireless and NET10 no-contract services.
The Straight Talk and NET10 iPhones are exclusive to Walmart and Walmart.com. The 4s became available today, and the iPhone 5s and 5c become available Dec. 13.
Both Straight Talk and NET10 continue to offer the iPhone 4, with the Straight Talk version also available exclusively though Walmart. NET10’s iPhone 4 is available at various participating retailers.
Straight Talk is the TracFone brand launched in fall 2009 exclusively through Walmart. TracFone’s NET10 brand is available through multiple retailers. TracFone itself is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that provides wireless service using the networks of facilities-based national carriers.
On Nov. 8, Sprint prepaid brand Boost Mobile began offering the iPhone 5s, 5c, and 4, never having offered iPhones before.
With Straight Talk Wireless or NET10 service, the iPhone 5s will be available in a 16GB version in gray, silver and gold at $649. The 16GB iPhone 5c will be available at $549 in white, blue, green, pink and yellow. The 8GB iPhone 4s is available at $449 in black and white. Walmart is offering phone financing in-store through December 31 with a Walmart credit card for qualifying customers.
The Straight Talk iPhones will be available with one of two plans. One is a $45/month plan with unlimited nationwide talk, text, and data, with up to 2.5GB of high-speed data. Data rates are slowed after reaching that cap. A $60/month plan offers unlimited nationwide talk, text, and data (with 2.5GB of high-speed data), plus unlimited international calling to more than 1,000 destinations in Mexico, Canada, India, and other countries. Unlimited international calling is limited to 15 unique international telephone numbers in each 30-day cycle.
The iPhones will be available with NET 10’s Friends and Family Plans starting at $50 for the first line and $40 for each additional line, with unlimited nationwide talk, text, and data (with up to 2.5GB of high-speed data) for each line. A $65 plan adds unlimited international calling with the same restrictions as the Straight Talk plans.
