Starpower Golf Tourney Raises $20K For Food Bank

Dallas — Starpower Home Entertainment Systems is donating $20,000 to the North Texas Food Bank.

The funds were raised at the specialty A/V and appliance chain’s 12th Annual VIP Invitational Golf Tournament, held last month at Gentle Creek Golf Club. Attendees included CE industry execs, sports greats Michael Finley, Mark Aguirre and Tony Dorsett, and honorary guest Daryl “Moose” Johnston, the NFL analyst and former Dallas Cowboys fullback who selected the charity.

The donation, which will be presented to the food bank tomorrow, will provide some 60,000 meals for children, families and seniors. The gift is comprised of a $10,000 prize that was won and donated by StarFloors CEO Steven Pidgeon for shooting a hole-in-one, and a matching $10,000 award from Starpower, a sister company run by his brothers David and Daniel Pidgeon.

“This gift will make a brighter day possible for many right here in our own neighborhoods,” said Jan Pruitt, president/CEO of North Texas Food Bank.

Starpower, a three-time winner of TWICE’s Excellence In Retailing Awards, grand-opened its remodeled flagship showroom in North Dallas last month and will preview its recently relocated Ed Kellum & Son premium appliance showroom to the trade next week.
