SquareTrade Builds Senior Management

San Francisco – SquareTrade, a direct seller of competitively priced extended service contracts, has hired former Expedia.com chief financial officer Michael Adler to serve in the same role.

The company has also named Dina Furash as strategic partnerships senior VP.

Both appointments are effective immediately.

In his new post, Adler is responsible for SquareTrade’s global finance functions including financial planning and analysis, accounting, tax, and treasury.

Furash, who joins SquareTrade from debit card provider Green Dot, is responsible for building “innovative partnerships” with national retailers and expanding SquareTrade’s presence with current channel partners.

“We are delighted to welcome these world-class executives to the SquareTrade family,” said president/CEO Steve Abernethy.

SquareTrade began in 1999 as a disruptive extended warranty provider that sold post-purchase CE protection plans direct to consumers for 40 percent to 70 percent below retailers’ prices. The company, funded by Bain Capital and underwritten by Warrantech parent AmTrust Financial Services, has since forged partnerships with dozens of retailers including Abt Electronics, Amazon.com, Costco, eBay and Sam’s Club.
