Overland Park, Kan. – Sprint will expand its portfolio of 4G LTE devices in the coming weeks with the launch of five more devices, including two from Samsung and two from LG.
The introductions will bring to 13 the number of LTE devices intended for Sprint’s network, a spokesman said.
The newest devices are the Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone/tablet hybrid, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet, LG’s Mach Android smartphone and LG’s Optimus G smartphone. The fifth addition will be the Sprint Plug-in-Connect Tri-Mode USB. Pricing and exact availability dates haven’t been announced.
These models will join the following LTE devices on the Sprint network: Samsung Galaxy Nexus, LG Viper 4G LTE, HTC EVO 4G LTE, Sierra Wireless 4G LTE Tri-Fi hot spot, Samsung Galaxy S III, Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE, Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE and the iPhone.
At Sprint, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will be the carrier’s first tablet to combine Sprint 3G and 4G LTE. The tablet features 10.1-inch touchscreen display, Android 4.0 and 1.5GHz dual-core processor. The LG Optimus G features Android 4.0, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, quad-core 1.5GHz processor and 4.7-inch 15:9 WXGA True HD IPSPlus.
The Spring Plug-in-Connect Tri-Mode USB will be the carrier’s first USB modem to combine Sprint 3G, 4G WiMax, and 4G LTE technology. The only other tri-mode data device on Sprint’s network is the Tri-Fi mobile hot spot from Sierra Wireless.
LG Mach is positioned as an inexpensive 4G LTE smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard. Features include Android 4.0, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4-inch WVGA touchscreen, 0.48-inch thickness and mobile hot spot capability.
Some of the newly announced models will also be available on other networks. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, for example, will also be available in the coming weeks from AT&T, and the Galaxy Note II will be available from T-Mobile and AT&T. The LG Optimus G will also be available from AT&T.
