Overland Park, Kan. — Fresh from yesterday’s closing of its merger with SoftBank, Sprint is going on the marketing offensive with the launch of two new plans that guarantee unlimited talk, text and data for life while on the Sprint network.
Sprint promised that customers on the plans will see “significant yearly savings” compared with plans from AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.
The plans and Sprint Unlimited guarantee go into effect Friday, July 12, for new and existing subscribers.
“The Sprint Unlimited Guarantee allows our customers to lock in unlimited talk, text and data not for just the next two years, but for life,” said Sprint CEO Dan Hesse “While other wireless providers are moving away from unlimited service, Sprint champions it.”
The guarantee offers unlimited service for the life of the line and applies to the new Unlimited My Way plan and the My All-in plan. They offer unlimited talk, text and data while on the Sprint network.
With the My Way plan, consumers customize their wireless plan to meet family needs, including data options, mixing smartphones and basic phones, and adding up to 10 lines on one account, Sprint said. One line costs $80. As customers add lines to an account, costs per line go down, with accounts of four to 10 lines getting unlimited service for as little as $50 per month, the company said.
The My Way plan works like this: Customers select the number of lines, all of which get unlimited talk to any wire line or mobile phone and unlimited text. Customers then choose their data for each line: $30/month for unlimited data on smartphones or $10/month for unlimited data on basic phones. Additional options include $20 for 1GB of data on smartphones or basic phone not added to the account. Customers can activate mobile hotspot functionality on smartphone for another $10 per month for 1GB of data while on the Sprint network.
The My All-In Plan offers unlimited talk, text and data while on the Sprint network and 5GB of mobile hotspot usage for $110.
The Unlimited Guarantee works like this: Customers who select unlimited data on an Unlimited My Way plan or a My All-in plan get unlimited data guaranteed for the life of the line. The guarantee applies as long as a customer remains on the plan, meets the plan’s terms and conditions, and pays their bill in full and on time. The guarantee is non-transferrable.
