Berlin – Sony showed at IFA this week a pair of LED-backlit LCD TVs that are part of a new flagship Bravia TV line slated to reach the Japanese and European markets in November.
No word has come yet on when or if the HX950 XBR models will make it to U.S. shores or at what price if they do, but CEDIA Expo is coming up next week.
The series includes 55- and 65-inch screen sizes and a newly developed system for reducing screen glare.
According to Akihabara News, models in Japan include dual W digital TV tuners, USB recording, 3D capability with new 3D Super-Resolution circuitry in addition to Internet Video Super Resolution and HD Super Resolution.
Sony also adds its X-RealityPRO Image Engine, which will appear in the just announced 84-inch, 4K by 2K XBR-84X900 LCD TV.
The HX950 models are said to produce strong black levels using Sony’s new Intelligent Peak LED lighting system.
The series also includes a host of smart-TV functions using Android iOS Media Remote support and access to YouTube, Hulu, Video Unlimited VOD Services and DLNA, and support of Twitter, Facebook and Skype.
Engadget reported the sets will go on sale in Europe in November at 2,999 euros (about $3,800) for the 55-inch model, and 4,999 euros (about $6,300) for the 65-inch model. They will appear in Japan around the same time.
