San Diego — Sony rolled out its spring computer line, which includes Ultrabooks, Vaio Fit ultra-thin laptops, and upgraded tabletop and all-in-one PCs.
The higher-end Fit 14 and Fit 15 and more mainstream Fit E 14 and Fit E 15 laptops fall into Sony’s slim and light product categories. All are equipped with touchscreens.
The Fit models have Sony’s Vaio logo rendered in diamond cut on the casing and come in Steel Black, Steel Pink and Steel Silver, while the Fit E will come in black, pink and white.
As indicated by the models numbers, the laptops come with either a 1,600 by 900 14-inch or 1,920 by 1,080 15-inch FullHD display, with optional Nvidia graphics and up to 2GB of video RAM. Also included is a range of hybrid storage drives with an option for a solid-state drive for the Fit 14 and 15 models. All are powered by third-generation Intel Core processors.
The four models will ship in mid-May, with the Fit 14 at $649, Fit 15 at $699, Fit E 14 at $549 and Fit E 15 at $579.
Sony’s T-series 15 Ultrabook line ships in May with an $849 starting price.
The T-series 15 has a 15-inch touchscreen, third-generation Intel processor, hybrid hard drive and solid-state storage.
The L-series all-in-one PC, for $1,249, will add larger storage options — up to 3TB. The Tap 20 tabletop PC, $899, was introduced last year, but received a face lift that includes Intel WiDi and Sony’s Imagination Studio software.
