Mahwah, N.J. — Sharp Electronics said Tuesday it was named a 2013 Energy Star Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environment Protection Agency.
Sharp is being recognized for its “exemplary commitment and dedication to energy efficiency” through its more than 154 Energy Star-qualified models across seven product lines in 2012.
Sharp was also commended for having the biggest share of large-screen televisions recognized as “Energy Star’s Most Efficient 2012.”
“It’s a testament to Sharp’s engineering capabilities and dedication to energy efficiency that even as our TVs get larger, energy consumption is decreasing,” stated John Herrington, Sharp Electronics Marketing Co. of America president. “Our commitment to the Energy Star program remains a priority, and we proudly offer consumers the energy saving benefits they deserve without sacrificing size or functionality.”
At the 2013 International CES, Sharp unveiled 21 60-inch-plus TV models under its new Aquos LED TV banner.
Most of the new LED TV portfolio is now Energy Star 6.0 qualified, the company said. In addition, the Optical Picture (OPC) feature included on every Sharp Aquos LED TV helps save power by using a sensor on the front of the TV to detect ambient room light, and automatically adjust TV brightness.
Sharp also offers Energy Star qualified audio and video products, Plasmacluster air purifiers, microwave ovens, air conditioners and MFPs.
