Hoffman Estates, Ill. – Sears has launched a curbside pickup service that allows customers to retrieve online orders at their local Sears store in five minutes or less without leaving the car.
To use the service, online customers must select the “In-Vehicle Pickup” option at checkout, provide details of the vehicle they will arrive in, and activate Sears’ “Shop Your Way” mobile app.
Customers are instructed to park in specially designated spots outside the store’s merchandise pickup area, and to use the app to initiate the curbside delivery and to time the procedure. An associate is expected to bring the item to the car in five minutes or less and verify the purchase.
The five-minute guarantee is an extension of Sears’ current “Ready in 5” in-store pickup offer. According to Leena Munjal, Sears Holdings’ member experience and integrated retail senior VP, “In-vehicle pickup on this scale is an industry first and another example of how we are constantly innovating and adding benefits that make shopping a more convenient experience for our members.”
The Shop Your Way app also features geo-fencing functionality to send personalized offers, special deals and e-coupons to customers’ mobile devices when they are in the vicinity of a Sears or Kmart store.
