Ridgefield Park, N.J. – Samsung introduced Thursday the latest edition to its NX mirrorless interchangeable lens camera line with the Wi-Fi enabled midrange NX300.
The new compact system camera, which will replaces the NX210, will ship in March at $750 suggested retail price, including a 20-50mm kit lens.
It will include the company’s Smart 2.0 technologies with dual-band Wi-Fi and intuitive operation with new 3D Still and Movie Capture, an improved hybrid AF system and a premium retro modern design.
Also new in this camera is a 3.3-inch AMOLED touch-screen and tilt display, and a 20.3 megapixel APS-C sized CMOS sensor.
The speedier hybrid contrast/phase detect AF with 247 contrast points and 105 phase detect points. The system enables the camera to increase its continuous/burst shooting speed to 8.6 fps.
In addition, low-light shooting capability has been boosted with an advanced ISO range to 25,600.
Samsung’s new camera is capable of recording 1080p/60fps videos, and will even capture 1080/60fps 3D video recordings when used with a newly introduced 45mm/f1.8 lens (shipping in March at a $600 suggested retail) with built-in 3D capability.
A new optional Samsung 45mm 2D/3D lens is billed as “the world’s first one-lens 3D system for a consumer camera.”
It will shoot either 3D stills or video images, using a side-mounted 2D/3D toggle switch, but at this time the 3D capability will only work with the NX300 model camera. The lens will only shoot 2D photos on early NX camera bodies.
The NX300 is also compatible with Samsung’s entire range of NX lenses and professional standard accessories, giving users a range of creative shooting options.
The NX300’s Wi-Fi Smart Camera connectivity allows users to share photos instantly and securely between the camera and smartphone (or tablet). To connect a smartphone to the camera, users simply need to download the Samsung Smart Camera app, which is available for both Android and iOS based application markets, onto their smartphone or tablet and follow the steps to establish a secure connection with the camera.
The NX300 will be able to detect and auto-connect to the smartphone wirelessly whenever any of the Smart Camera features are activated.
These features include: AutoShare; which automatically sends every high-quality photos to a smart phone for safe keeping; and (push and pull-enabled) Mobile Link, which allows users to select and transfer images or albums from the camera directly to a smartphone.
The Smart Camera app also features a Remote Viewfinder function for the NX300, allowing for more flexible creative shooting options.
The camera can also automatically backup image files in the cloud through Samsung’s AllShare Play technology for safe and easy image accessibility.
