Pickering, Ontario – PSB Speakers will add two slim on-wall speakers for use with flat-panel TVs to it selection of in-wall, in-ceiling and in-room speakers.
One of the two on-wall speakers is also the company’s first passive soundbar-style speaker to incorporate three front channels in one enclosure. Both 3-inch-deep models will ship in November as part of the company’s Imagine series of curvy freestanding speakers.
At a suggested $599 each, the Imagine W1 is a single-channel speaker that can be mounted vertically or horizontally for use as a front left/right, center channel, or surround speaker. Sound quality is said to make it suitable for use in stereo pairs for high-performance music systems.
At a suggested $1,199 each, the Imagine W3 combines left, center and right channels in one horizontal enclosure that can be wall-mounted or placed on a TV cabinet. The drivers for each channel are sealed in their own chambers so they “function as three discrete speakers for superior imaging and soundstage,” the company said.
The Imagine On-Wall speakers are voiced to perfectly integrate with other PSB in-room, in-wall, and in-ceiling speakers and subwoofers, the company said. Final voicing was performed by Paul Barton, PSB’s founder and chief designer, at Canada’s National Research Council.
“Properly designing a wall-hugging speaker like the Imagine W1 requires a thorough understanding of acoustics to get sound that is true-to-nature,” Barton said.
Each speaker comes with a custom wall-mount bracket, pre-construction template, and a tabletop stand for horizontal placement.
The company’s various speaker series feature freestanding tower, bookshelf, center-channel and surround speakers and subwoofers as well as in-wall, in-ceiling and outdoor speakers, the company’s web site shows
