Baltimore — Polk Audio is expanding its headphone selection to 10 models with the brand’s first three headphones designed for use with Android smartphones and with a new noise-canceling headphone that adds hands-free microphone and in-line Apple controls.
Each model is available in multiple colors.
The noise-canceling headphones are the $149-suggested in-ear 6000i, which offer the same features as the noise-cancelling 6000 but add microphone and in-line Apple control of such iPhone and iPod features as play/pause, fast-forward/rewind, stop, and answer/hang up.
Like the 6000, which remains in the line at $149, the 6000i features an in-ear design to work in conjunction with active noise cancellation to reduce external noise levels. Both also offer a talk-through feature that lets users mute the music, defeat noise cancellation, and amplify external sounds to make it easier to hear someone’s voice without taking the earphones off.
On the new model, noise cancellation remains active while a user talks on the phone to reduce external noise levels.
The 6000I is shipping.
To reach the growing base of Android phone users, Polk said it is shipping Android versions of three UltraFit headphones designed for Apple’s mobile devices.
The headphones control calling and music listening functions via in-line or on-ear remote control and microphone. The suggested retails are the same as their Apple counterparts.
