Newark, N.J. – Panasonic this week launched a new social community for “hybrid photographers” called the Lumix Luminary Lounge.
Hybrid photography and other photo content will be hosted by select elite photographers and sponsored by Panasonic.
Panasonic defined hybrid photography as combining the capture of still and video imagery and audio for photographic display around social media experiences.
The Lumix Luminary Lounge is billed as “the first photo community centered on a true social media experience.”
Users are expected to join the community through various social media channels and will have the opportunity to interact with the Lumix Luminary Photographers, a group of photography professionals and enthusiasts selected as Panasonic brand ambassadors.
The community will also incorporate Google+ Hangouts with the Lumix Luminary Photographer team, fan interaction through Instagram, new Luminary Photographer biographies’ and enhanced Facebook interaction.
The site currently supports Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.
The Lumix Luminary Team has members have created “The GX7 Change your Perspective Tour” to promote Hybrid Photography to U.S. Panasonic dealers.
As ambassadors for the Lumix G brand, the Lumix Luminary Team will journey to Chicago with the new Lumix Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) camera, the DMC-GX7. The high-performance camera allows photographers to change viewing perspective with a high color accuracy integrated 90-degree tiltable Live View Finder (LVF).
The Lumix Luminary Photographers will post hybrid and still imagery throughout the tour and will interact with fans through tweets, Panasonic said.

The company said it is also planning a contest offering the chance to win a GX7 and will be announcing details on twitter @LUMIXUSA.
