Norton Mobile Security Updated

Mountain View, Calif. – Symantec today updated its Norton Mobile Security offerings with the release of several new features.

The latest upgrades range from allowing multi-platform support to an app that allows a user to quickly located a misplaced phone or tablet.

For the first time, Norton Mobile Security, which costs $29.99 and can be purchased online or on app stores, will work on Android and Apple iOS devices.

Mobile Security now has a backup and restore function for contact lists, allowing them to be restored to another device if the phone or tablet is lost or stolen. Consumers can also control the security on all their Norton Mobile Security devices from a web-based platform.

The Scream Alarm app sets off a loud noise, making the mobile device easy to locate. The alarm is triggered via text or through a web command. In case the phone is turned off, it overrides the mute control and turns the volume to its highest setting.

For those times when the device is stolen and not just temporarily misplaced, Norton’s Remote Locate can pinpoint a lost or stolen device on a map so it can be found. The app also allows the device to be wiped or locked so it cannot be accessed by anyone else.
