San Francisco — Smart-TV app developer Flingo said Wednesday that MStar Semiconductor has agreed to integrate Flingo’s new Samba multi-screen synchronization software into the new MStar system on a chip (SoC).

Flingo said Samba will enable synchronization of any screen — TV, tablet, phone or PC — with live TV shows.

Samba automatically identifies advertisements and TV shows, and presents the viewer with real-time information and social media discussions about the programming being playing on TV, Flingo said.

The MStar SoC solution is billed as a comprehensive platform for smart digital home applications. The smart-TV platform powers products from TV brand customers.

MStar is also a pioneer in multi-screen TV experiences in a new feature set, dubbed “MScreen,” that allows easily connecting smartphones, tablets and PCs to a TV to enhance the viewing experience.

Samba was designed to engage viewers with content discovery on TVs or mobile devices, and to instantly share favorites with family and friends. Samba’s uses check-ins, tweets, polls, quizzes, cast and crew information, and special offers directly on the TV.

Samba and Flingo’s embedded content-recognition technology are integrated into the TV operating system to quickly identify broadcast content playing on the TV.

Flingo’s technology can identify related content within a few seconds of changing channels, and makes it available to applications running on the TV or any device within the home.
