Dallas – AT&T will begin offering the first Windows RT tablet with 4G LTE when the Asus VivoTab RT becomes available on Nov. 16 for as low as $499.
AT&T said it would be the only carrier offering an LTE version of the 10.1-inch Windows 8 tablet during the holiday season.
The quad-core VivoTab RT will be available Nov. 16 through direct and indirect channels.
Through its direct channels, AT&T will drop the price to $499 if the consumer buys the tablet along with any Windows smartphone. This $100-off promotion also applies to any other tablet. AT&T’s price will also include a free Mobile Dock with keyboard and additional battery.
An AT&T spokesperson wasn’t sure whether the VivoTab’s promotions would be available through indirect channels.
The ViviTab RT is 0.33 inches thin, weighs 1.18lbs, and features NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and 12-core graphics. The screen features HD-capable 1366x768 Super IPS+ display. Other features include 2-megapixel front camera, 8-megapixel 1080p rear camera/camcorder with LED flash and auto-focus, and Bang & Olufsen ICEpower amplification.
The mobile dock provides a keyboard, multi-touch touchpad and USB port, plus up to 15 hours use with the dock’s built-in battery. VivoTab RT with Windows RT comes preloaded with Office Home & Student 2013 RT Preview for productivity at home and on the move.
The only other LTE-equipped Windows 8 tablet that AT&T is offering this season is Samsung’s Intel-based $799 ATIV Smart PC, which became available Nov. 9 along with Samsung’s Android-based Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
