Englewood Cliffs, N.J. — LG Electronics continues to expand distribution of its Optimus series of smartphones with a launch of the premium LTE-equipped Optimus F7 through no-contract service provider Boost Mobile.
The Optimus F7 rolled out earlier this month through U.S. Cellular with that carrier’s postpaid plans.
For Boost, the F7 is the fourth LTE device that is has rolled out this year. The service provider previously launched devices incorporating 4G Mobile WiMAX technology. Boost, a Sprint brand, is launching LTE phones as Sprint expands its LTE network, which currently operates in 110 markets and will expand to reach 200 million people by the end of the year.
Other recent LG launches through carriers include the Optimus G phablet through AT&T and the Lucid, which is targeted to first-time smartphone users and is available on the Verizon network.
With Boost service, the F7 will be available June 27 at $299 and operate on Sprint’s 3G and 4G LTE networks.
The Android 4.1 phone features 4.7-inch True HD IPS display, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, main 8-megapixel BSI camera with 1080p video capture, 17 hours of talk time, 1.3-megapixel front camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and QSlide 2.0 multitasking, which lets users overlay up to two application windows on an existing open application and adjust the size and transparency of the windows.
The F7’s VuTalk lets users share notes and images in real time between compatible devices. QuickMemo lets consumers take screenshots and add personalized notes, drawings and messages, then share them via social media, text or email. A dedicated QuickMemo button appears on the side to launch the application.
