Washington — Major sponsorship roles of inaugural weekend events in the nation’s capitol gave LG Electronics access time with key policy makers and environmental advocates, the company said.
The South Korean-based electronics manufacturer was the exclusive home appliance and consumer electronics sponsor at the official 2013 Green Inaugural Ball Sunday night at the Newseum, where it was joined by other top sponsors, including the National Wildlife Federation, the Solar Energy Industries Association, the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, the U.S. Green Building Council and Walmart, in celebrating a shared mission of protecting the environment through energy conservation and sustainable practices.
The black-tie event was attended by key cabinet officials, including Energy Secretary Stephen Chu, U.S. senators, congressmen and governors. It gave LG’s leaders an opportunity to greet policymakers and environmental advocates, as LG progresses with its own substantial green initiatives around the world.
The Green Inaugural Ball featured entertainment by seven-time Grammy Award winner Will.i.am, Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Paul Winter, Native American singer/songwriter Bill Miller, New Orleans’ master trombonist Trombone Shorty, musical director to the stars Onree Gill, rock and roll cover band Camp Freddy, legendary percussionist Sheila E, and renowned soul singer Mayer Hawthorne.
LG was also present at a Disability Power & Pride Inaugural Ball at the National Press Club Saturday night. There, LG was the exclusive mobile phone and consumer electronics sponsor, and joined the American Association of People with Disabilities, AT&T, Verizon and others. Also present were honorary chairs U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin, Bob Menendez, John Kerry and Tom Harkin.
