Englewood Cliffs – LG Electronics USA and Activision have joined forces on a new promotional campaign supporting the Nov. 13 release of the 3D-enabled “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” video game.
The nationwide campaign will include advertising on TV, cinema, online and in select retail stores, starting launch night and running through Nov. 21.
As part of the effort, gamers will receive a discount from LG when purchasing both a copy of the game and one of LG’s Cinema 3D TVs.
The campaign will roll out to over 25 national and regional retailers, totaling more than 2,000 electronics stores across the country, LG said.
Beginning today, fans can see an exclusive 3D trailer for the game at select Best Buy retail outlets across the country.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops II,” was developed by the Treyarch studio and will support 3D gameplay in single player, multiplayer and Zombies game modes.
The “near-future fiction,” premise of the game is a battle campaign set in the year 2025 that takes players on a cinematic journey with advanced weaponry, cutting-edge robotics and drone warfare. The game features the option to enable 3D gameplay, to enhance the visuals on 3D-enabled TVs like LG’s Cinema 3D models.

LG Cinema 3D TVs use film pattern retarder “passive” 3D glasses that are inexpense, don’t require batteries and are as comfortable to wear as a pair of sunglasses.
Consumers can also customize the 3D effect to their preference with 3D Depth Control. Most LG Cinema 3D TVs come with six pairs of 3D eyewear.
In addition, an LG Dual Play feature enables two side-by-side players to have their own full-screen experience while playing in Multiplayer or Zombies split-screen models.
Gamers can see two completely different full-screen images on the same screen, at the same time.
Dual Play applyies LG’s Cineam 3D technology to a 2D split-screen game; presenting two 2D images projected simultaneously.
Dual Play glasses (required and sold separately) come with either two left- or two right-eye lenses, so instead of combining those images, the lenses filter only one image to each user.
Both players then see full-screen action from their own perspectives.
Dual Play works with most current gaming systems and some older consoles with split-screen gaming.
Qualifying LG Cinema 3D TVs include: LM9600, LM8600, LM7600, LM7200, LM6700, LM6200 and G2.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II launches Nov. 13, 2012, on the Xbox 360 system, the PlayStation 3, and Windows PC.
A version for the new Wii U game system will launch on November 18. Call of Duty: Black Ops II is rated “M” (Mature – Blood and Gore, Intense Violence Strong Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Drugs – content suitable for persons ages 18 and older) by the ESRB.
